IMSEL Professional Development Program

The Project Presence model for Integrative Mental Health and Social and Emotional Learning (IMSEL) consists of a series of trainings that address both individual and organizational levels of IMSEL within education systems.  We are proud to launch our hybrid cohort model for designed to support individuals teachers integrate our core IMSEL practices and frameworks in the their schools.

The IMSEL Hybrid Training Program provides educator 45 hours of professional development training in a supportive cohort environment. These training will take place over the course of 6 months and will be offered twice per year.

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN:
• Application and integration of movement-based practices for whole-child development 
• Instructional practices to support educators assess and support emotional literacy, diversity, and intelligence
• Mindfulness-based strategies for stress reduction
• Overview of stress-response and the impact on attention, memory, affect, and learning
• Ethical aspects and the practice of educator self-care
• Development and implementation of professional self-care plan
• Strategies and approaches to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue
• Application and integration of listening and the use of intentional language practice for class-room instruction
• Effective and meaningful use of conflict resolution practices
• Close reading practices and reflective writing for IMSEL development
• Effective use and development of talking circles for empathy and compassion building
• Understand and assess the effects of trauma and the impact on learning
• Experiential learning practices for student IMSEL development (role play and movement-based approaches)
• Active and reflective listening and perspective taking skill development for Learning Relationships
• Motivational Interviewing techniques to engage learners
• Strategies for supporting growth mindsets
THESE PRACTICES ARE KNOWN TO:
• support healthy emotion regulation
• improve immune system functioning and support overall health and wellness
• reduce stress for students
• safeguard against teacher burnout, compassion fatigue, and stress-related conditions.

• improve healthy and responsible decision making
• enhance learning relationships
**Currently to due to local, regional, and national COVID-19 guidelines this program is offered only via remote synchronous and asynchronous learning. These training will take place over the course of 6 months and will be offered twice per year.
