IMSEL Hybrid Model (K-12) provides up to 30 hours of professional development training for educators in a series of in-person.  The program consists of three core pedagogical methods within an integrative whole-person development framework. The core pedagogical methods are modeled  full day trainings and live online webinars. IMSEL training is a relational-based approach that is guided by evidence-based practices that are known to support social and emotional development and wellness. 


Participant's will learn: 

  • Application and integration of movement in class-room

  •  Practices to support the development of emotional literacy, diversity, and intelligence

  • Mindfulness-based approaches for stress reduction 

  • Overview of stress-response and the impact on attention, memory, affect, and learning

  • Close reading practices and reflective writing for IMSEL development

  • Experiential Learning practices for student IMSEL development (role play, drama-based, dance-based) 

  • Active and Reflective Listening skill development for Learning Relationships

  • Motivational Interviewing techniques to engage learners

  • Strategies for supporting growth mindsets

  • Psychosocial variables of student somatic complaints and learning

  • Application and integration of deep listening skills for class-room instruction

  • Ethical aspects and the practice of Teacher Self-care

  • Development and implementation of professional self-care plan

  • Strategies and approaches to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue

These practices are known to:

  • support healthy emotion regulation and social relationships

  • improve immune system functioning and promote overall health and wellness

  • strengthen learning relationships

  • improve school social climate

  • reduce stress for students and adults

  • safeguard against teacher burnout, compassion fatigue, and stress-related conditions

  • increase self and social awareness

  • improve healthy and responsible decision making


The program is rooted in science and evidenced-based practices within the fields of mind-body medicine, health and wellness, positive psychology, primary and secondary education, developmental and child psychology, critical pedagogies, critical theory, somatic medicine, embodied learning.
